Why can’t I wear contacts in the pool or hot tub?

To put it simply, swimming while wearing contact lenses can cause serious infections and irritations to your eyes. Water, especially in swimming pools and hot tubs, has bacteria and chemicals. Wearing contact lenses increases the likelihood of those bacteria and chemicals becoming trapped behind the contact lenses, which in turn can cause serious damage to your eyes.
